Last week was the debut of our Domino/Notes Bloopers. "Kim," as we will call her, stepped up to the plate and shared her story of the Out-of-control Out-of-Office agent. I've received numerous bloopers from our members, but we can always use more, as we'll be posting these weekly. One question though: Developers, are you perfect? It seems more administrators are willing to fess up to mistakes than developers so far -- c'mon, don't be chicken! Check out Blooper #1 below.
On the news end, Eric Parizo had the opportunity to speak with IBM's "Father of WebSphere," Donald Ferguson, last week. According to Ferguson, Domino won't be devoured by WebSphere. Are you convinced? Sound off in our discussion forum with your thoughts on this, and don't forget to take our poll.
Please note there will be no newsletters on Thursday, July 4 in honor of Independence Day in the U.S.

Dev tip: Notes item/field size limitation
By Long Yu
In LotusScript, when using NotesItem AppendToTextList method to build a UNID list, the maximum number of UNIDs a NotesItem can hold is 964, which is about 30848 bits (32-bit UNID * 964). The 965th UNID that is appended will give an error of cannot append text to a null item. An actual field on a NotesDocument probably can only contain 16K, so the number of UNIDs can be put in a field is much smaller.
If you have to put more UNIDs in a field on a document, multiple fields would have to be used. A sample code of dynamically writing into multiple fields and dynamically reading from possible multiple fields shown in this code:

Domino Blooper # 1: Out-of-office nightmare
SearchDomino's Bloopers are here! For this senior systems engineer, a fairly general out-of-office mail task turned into an out-of-control nightmare when she was trying to help an end user before he left for vacation. "Kim" spent countless hours trying to recoup from this mess and regaining her anonymity.
