LEVEL 3 MAY GET LAST LAUGH AFTER BUYING PROFIT MAKERS | Rocky
Mountain News
Bandwidth provider Level 3 has seen tough times as the demand for
advanced networking dried up along with the tech economy, but the
company has shifted its business model. Today, the firm is
distributing Lotus, Microsoft and Sun software and has become one of
the world's biggest software resellers.

IBM FACES CRITICISM ON WEB SERVICES SECURITY INITIATIVE | cw360
IBM is trying to embed its technology at the core of emerging Web
services standards with the release of a set of application
programming interfaces (APIs) in WebSphere 5.1, due later this year,
The APIs are designed to address security and third-party integration
needs, but some argue that IBM is pursuing its own agenda and adding
to the myriad security efforts already under development.

HOME BUILDER RELIES ON WIRELESS FOR SCHEDULES | Computerworld
A home building company is using a wireless handheld messaging
application that is cutting out dozens of phone calls and scheduling
headaches for construction managers. The company completed a trial
run of the setup using Palm VII wireless handheld computers and IBM's
WebSphere application server and judged it successful enough to use
company wide.

IBM RAMPS UP UTILITY SERVICES | InfoWorld
Pushing both its computing-on-demand initiative and Linux ambitions,

THE MISSING LINK | eBay user buys empty can for $15

Remember when Jim Croce wanted to put "time in a bottle"? If only he
had put air into a can -- he could have made a fortune. Evidently a
market for such a thing exists. Someone paid $15 for a can of air on
eBay. Granted it was Saskatchewan air, an inviting blend of oxygen
and nitrogen with lesser amounts of argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen,
neon, helium and other gases packed fresh from the Great White North.
An American woman bought the can after 10 days of bidding. She said
she'd never been to Saskatchewan, and who wouldn't want some air from
there?
