Dot-com, dot-gone, .NET, not yet.
What's going on? .NET seems to be all the hype lately, but will IBM's Java-based approach mesh with the .NET platform? When you try to dig deeper to find out how this all falls into the Domino world, well keep digging, because Lotus is strill trying to figure that out too (see Can Domino do .NET below). If you know anything about it, or if you have comments or concerns to share, by all means, sound off in our Sound Off forum or drop me a line.
And if you're struggling with the Microsoft vs. Domino issues in general, (is your boss pressuring you to move to Microsoft? Just say NO!) be sure to pre-register for our Lotus Live! Series Webcast next week (July 24) with Lotus' Ed Brill, on the Business and Political Issues Surrounding Domino and Notes in a Microsoft World. This should be a popular one, so pre-register early.
Go Domino!

One member recently wrote in our administrator discussion forum, "I have installed DEAS 2.0 on a Domino 5.08 server. I use it for WAP mail, and it works great except for one little thing. The server is placed in a DMZ, and we are only replicating mail to the server without attachments. I get an error when I try to access a mail with the attachment removed from WAP tlf. Can anyone offer some advice?" See entire post here

Admin tip: Restoring deleted e-mails
By Judy Ory
Like most other companies, we have a huge problem with users "accidentally" deleting all of their email. Rather than restoring their mail database and wiping out their current one, we "merge" the two by using the replication process. This tip shows you how.

Can Domino do .NET?
Lotus is eager to integrate Web services with Domino, but IBM has not revealed how its Java-based approach will mesh with the .NET platform of its Web services buddy Microsoft. Some believe IBM will find a painless way to make both technologies work together eventually, but IBM may have to find an alternative to J2EE-based Web services for its Domino customers.

Domino Blooper # 3: Return to sender
Read blooper here
This Lotus developer was trying to come up with a clever solution to forward incoming e-mails to recipients' text enabled mobile phones. Instead, he ended up setting off a mail bomb on himself and his ASP. Here's a good example of how a clever idea can blow up in your face, or your inbox.
