    Joyce Chutchian, Site Editor

It's here! If you haven't heard it already, well, then, where have you been? Lotus officially announced Notes/Domino 6 last week, with Sametime 3, QuickPlace 3 and LearningSpace - Virtual classroom. And I must say, it was rather exciting to see with my own eyes what these products can now do. We kicked off October with a Notes/Domino 6 featured topic that will run all month long. We'll be featuring some Lotus Live! Series webcasts, (if you missed Gary Devendorf's webcast last week on Domino Designer 6, you can view the archives.) news and feature articles focusing on ND6 developer and admin issues and more. So if you've got questions about ND6, now's the time to ask our experts and webcast guest speakers.

    Cheers, Lotus.

    Joyce

    Tip of the Week:
Developer Tip: View applet doesn't display view
    By Magnus
Do you from time to time have problems with your view applet just displaying a grey area in your browser? This happens because of a bug in IE 5.5(possibly 6 too). Add the following code to the OnLoad event of your $$ViewTemplate form and the problem will be solved.

At long last, Notes/Domino 6 debuts
Read Eric Parizo's story on last week's announcement: The three-year wait is over. Lotus is now delivering Notes and Domino 6, which it says "isn't about sexy user interfaces" but more than 1,000 enhancements to the Notes client and the bundling of Domino with a scaled-back version of WebSphere.

If you missed Gary Devendorf's extremely popular live webcast last week on What's new in Domino Designer 6, it's not too late to view the archives. Just log on at your leisure and learn about the latest features in Domino Designer 6. And stay tuned for Gary's answers to your questions in upcoming articles.

New poll: When will you upgrade to ND6?
    Vote here
Previous poll results: The open source replacement that would bring JSP back to Domino won't be included in Domino 6. Instead, Lotus is counting on a Domino-WebSphere combination to meet Java needs. What's your reaction?
  • 56%: Lotus dropped the ball and never should have yanked JSP support in the first place.
  • 34%: I'm sure Domino 6 will include all the functionality that I need.
  • 10%: I could care less.

    Domino Blooper #14
Upgrade or retrograde? During an upgrade, this Lotus administrator was stabbed in the back by a double agent. Our hero was almost tarred and feathered by the IT staff when they had to manually reassign document locations for the entire company.
