We're approaching the end of the year, when everyone, it seems, has to have some say in a Top 10 Favorites list. Well, we're no exception. SearchDomino will be presenting some of the most preferred features, such as tips, webcasts and news stories offered to you during 2002. What have you enjoyed most, what could you do without, or what have you underutilized on SearchDomino.com (and why)?
My favorite year-end feature is the experts' predictions. This year I'd like to extend that to all of you developers, administrators, systems analysts, consultants and business partners.

What do you think Lotus will do in 2003? Send us your predictions, and we'll tell everyone what you think (anonymously, of course.)

    Tip of the Week:
Developer Tip: Simple way to avoid dialog list synonym blues
    By Ingvar Engelbrecht

When using synonyms in a Dialog List field, the synonyms will be displayed in a view. But in reality, you might want to see the values displayed when looking at the field on the form. The solution suggested in the Notes help pages suggest a "backwards" translation in the column for the view. Not elegant. Instead, create a hidden text field that is editable. In the Querysave event, get the value from the original field and store it in the hidden field. Use the hidden field in the view.
