THE MISSING LINK | Google: Linux whips Microsoft

Linux has really done it now. It has "outgoogled" Microsoft. Google,
the sultan of search, tallied up its most sought-after terms for
2002. As far as IT-related searches went, MP3 was tops in the box,
followed by SMS, Winzip, and Linux. Microsoft finished ninth. Among
more general terms, Spider-Man proved his Web power, showing the
sharpest increase in searches for 2002. Colombian singer Shakira
shook out second place. This year people stopped looking for
Nostradamus in droves. Searches for the French seer showed the
sharpest decline. He probably saw that coming.
