    by Jon Panker, News Editor

Domino/Notes users seem to see themselves as part of a pretty cool fraternity -- a community of users that rely on one another to help solve business problems. The same honesty they offer to their fellow users, they're also more than willing to extend to those who write about the platform. That's why the SearchDomino.com team was so eager to see the results of some recent research we conducted. We asked those of you working with Domino to get out your red pens and grade IBM Lotus. Tell us how it's doing meeting your needs, supporting your software and devising tomorrow's messaging and collaboration strategy. We asked, and you were honest. I think you'll be pretty interested in seeing the results. Beginning Tuesday, we'll have a series of stories breaking down your thoughts. We hope you'll keep an eye on our news page and will feel free to drop us a line with your comments on the Lotus Report Card.

    This Week: In the forums
    >> Developer forum: Linux anyone?

    Help MichaelDE:
How can I automatically import the content of an ASCII file with Lotus Server 5.012 that runs on AIX 5.0.X? The ASCII files are on a Linux system. In the past (with an old Notes Server 5.0.6 or 5.0.8), I used a script agent on the server that imported the file over a Samba client on the Linux system. But that doesn't work on Lotus Server 5.0.12. Can you help?

    Tip of the Week:
Smart icon to set field value/type, version 2
    by Dave Lehman

This tip is another version of Janet Rogers' tip from Sept. 4, 2001, Set field value/type via smart icon. Janet's tip won the SearchDomino.com Tips Contest the month it was submitted. The formula this tip gives can be pasted into a custom smart icon (tool button) in the Notes client to arbitrarily set the value of any field on the document.
