'Ich bin ein Bin' -- Berlin's unique trash talk
![]()
Trash talk never sounded quite like this. The city of Berlin is testing talking trash cans. Solar power provides the juice for a sound mechanism that can thank pedestrians for being neat, lecture them on the benefits of tidiness or simply say hello. They're even multilingual and light up at night, although the audio is turned off after hours so that people don't think they're being accosted by "Oskar" the Grouch. Berlin city officials say the bins have been a big hit -- they hope to kick them to foreign curbs before too long.
