THE MISSING LINK
With Linux, Billy Bass is a live one

The geeks have gotten their hooks into Big Mouth Billy Bass. The singing fish was game for about 15 minutes of fame in the 1990s (or less) and has been bloated and floating at the surface of pop culture ever since. But leave it to a penguin to give the bass a new lease on life. Linux lovers have set up a Web site that shows how to filet Billy's little chip and replace it with a Linux microprocessor that allows Billy to say nearly anything you want him to -- complete with the moving mouth and wriggly tail. Among the samples you can hear open source Billy say on the Web site: "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky."
