TECHNICAL ADVICE:
Chapter Download: Threads, exceptions and assertions
Threads are objects that implement the Runnable interface,
which indicates that they can run simultaneously with other parts of
a Java program. Exceptions are objects that represent errors that may occur in a Java program. Assertions are conditional statements and Boolean values that indicate a program is running correctly, providing another means of detecting errors. In this chapter from the book SAMS Teach Yourself Java 2 in 21 Days, by Rogers Cadenhead and Laura Lemay, you'll learn why these are three of the most useful elements of the Java language and how they work.
ASK THE EXPERTS:
Ask Andre Guirard: Find/use opendatabase dialog properties
Dear Andre: I have been looking everywhere to find (and use) the properties of the opendatabase dialog. I just want to get the serverdatabasepathdatabase name to add text to a profile document that will be used by an application. I can get the opendatabase dialog to prompt but I have not been able to access this information. Help.

Michael whams ...er slams Web site shut
[The Inquirer]
Why
has pop star George Michael shut down his Web site? Blame it on too
many careless whispers. The former singing partner of Andrew Ridgeley and infamous patron of the California park system pulled the plug after people started slamming him in what was supposed to be a fan forum. Visitors cracked on Michael?s appearance, as well as his recent music -- not exactly the kind of feedback he was looking for. Michael lost "Faith," said he got ripped enough already in the media and decided to close down the site.
