Down under, Notes developers in short supply
[ZDNet]
According to the Australian Computer Society, a drop in the number of new IT workers joining the field is contributing to a shortage of qualified workers down under. Among the skills most in demand are Lotus Notes developers, Microsoft .NET specialists and those with knowledge of SAP, Siebel and PeopleSoft applications.

Sender ID will survive open source snub, analysts say
[SearchExchange.com]
The proposed antispam protocol that Microsoft co-authored will likely be widely adopted, despite recent rebukes by the Debian project and the Apache Software Foundation, experts argue.
Spammers using SPF to their advantage
[CNET News.com]
Few enterprises are using the Sender Policy Framework (SPF) to certify that the e-mail addresses used in messages are real, but spammers are taking advantage of it to appear more legitimate. Experts say SPF only helps to prevent spam when used with content filtering technology.

TIPS:
Tip: Build an extended directory catalog
Thanks to native Notes functionality, there is an easy way to give developers lots of custom data views in your Domino directory and never change its design. All you need to do is to build an extended directory catalog out of your domain's name and address book. This tip shows you how.
ADVICE:
Ask Andre Guirard: Customizing the Domino Directory
Dear Andre: Is it possible to customize the Domino Directory (NAB)? I need to add in certain fields, which would allow the transfer of data from a SQL table into the Domino directory using LDAP. Or can you recommend a better alternative?

GLOSSARY:
Domino Dictionary Challenge: Name this boot-up buddy
This is the program a personal computer's microprocessor uses to get the computer system started after you turn it on. It also manages data flow between the computer's operating system and attached devices such as the hard disk, video adapter, keyboard, mouse and printer.

Outsourcing comes to McDonaldland
[destination CRM]
IT workers know that outsourcing comes with the territory. What they may not know is, it also comes with fries. Yes, several McDonald's restaurants are testing a drive-through window concept in which the person at the first window isn't actually taking your order. Someone in a call center is doing the work, reading it back to you and sending the info back to the restaurant through a high-speed transmission line. Sounds absurd, but
if it keeps rogue onions from appearing where they shouldn't, more power to them.
