The site is http://www.vscodeswap.com, and it allows developers to highlight a segment of code from within Visual Basic.Net and send it to a depository where other developers can see it and work it into their own projects. VMWare and InCert are two examples of companies peddling products to help developers test and deploy applications. [2] "Whistler having an identity crisis" Don't call it "Whistler" or "Windows 2002 Server" any more. Bill Gates has rechristened the next generation of Microsoft's server software "Windows.Net Server." Whatever it's finally named, it should be loaded with support for XML, ASP.Net, the .Net Framework and other services and ready for release at the end of the year. Lotus Development is making sample Web services applications and templates available free for download over IBM's alphaWorks Web site. At least one analyst thinks the Lotus/IBM internal conflict could benefit Redmond in the long term. Microsoft has reportedly low-balled the minimum requirements for its latest version of Windows. Paul Thurrott recommends a 300 MHz processor at the least and a 500 MHz or faster processor for acceptable performance as opposed to the Redmond-recommended 233 MHz Intel or compatible processor. One reason is because half of all languages are spoken by fewer than 2,500 people each. Languages need at least 100,000 speakers to survive. War and genocide, natural disasters, the adoption of more dominant languages and government bans on language are other reasons. It is all very sad. When a language dies, the world loses rich sources of material for documenting a people's history. Too bad high tech jargon and marketing lingo are not on the list of endangered tongues, though. Time for a government ban?
