Charles Schumer (D-NY) has called on Uncle Sam to make open access to competitors' software in XP a condition for settling the antitrust case. Schumer also asked the 18 states suing Microsoft for antitrust violations to bring a lawsuit enjoining the October release of XP until Microsoft makes changes to the product. The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) is getting ready to file a complaint with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission about Microsoft's plans to bundle its Passport identification service with Windows XP. The consumer group is worried about the scads of customer data that Microsoft plans to store using the service. After 50 hours of computer time and 1.5 trillion calculations, he's determined that the shower pushes the air into a large vortex with a low-pressure center that literally sucks the curtain in -- something akin to a hurricane on its side. Great. Now that that mystery is solved, maybe he could figure out why socks go in the dryer but don't come out.
