will always have flaws. Instead of complaining about it, he feels
that IT professionals should try to be more proactive with solutions.

[1] Code Red too sophisticated for Chinese hackers

[5] Disk I/O sightings create real savings

[1] "Code Red too sophisticated for Chinese hackers"
Apparently, the "Made in China" label on the Code Red Internet worm
isn't for real. Chinese officials doubt the worm was created there,
even though Web site graffiti said "Hacked by Chinese." U.S. security
officials also doubt it came from China.

[2] "Microsoft bulletins fail PGP verification"
Ever gotten a security bulletin from Microsoft and thought, "Wow,
this looks fake!" Redmond's method of using a public key encryption
and authentication technology to send out its bulletins makes those
bulletins look forged. Regardless, Microsoft will stick with this
method.

[3] "For now, rivals see Microsoft as savior"
Windows XP may be considered another playing piece in Microsoft's
monopoly game. But even companies stridently critical of XP are
getting ready for its scheduled October 25th launch, hoping it will
be a catalyst for the economy.

[4] "Ximian CTO issues open source .Net challenge"
An official with Ximian says his company is hoping to create a
software development environment that works with .Net but isn't
chained to Microsoft. Ximian wants developers to contribute code to
the project, which is called Project Mono.

[5] "Disk I/O sightings create real savings"
Having the ability to see the actual I/O of files on the network
helps IT managers improve system performance and increase
scalability. And that eases storage slowdowns and creates a higher
ROI.

THE MISSING LINK
-------------------------------------------------------
A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web

"Taming the wild, wild Web"

There have been lots of theories about the cause of the Internet
economy's recent nosedive, though none more creative than the one
that blames "hippie anarchists." Some in the U.S. business world
believe that if profit-minded types had been at the helm when the
Internet was created 30 years ago, the medium would deliver business
data with the high priority it deserves; everyone else would just
have to wait. Who says the ugly American is dead?
