LEAD STORY
"Worms prompt AT&T to unplug sites"

AT&T found a way to keep the "Red" out. The company closed off
incoming traffic to its Web servers run by residential customers.
That move should keep the Code Red worms from clogging up AT&T's
cable Internet network.

[1] "New virus spreads using Acrobat files"
Even PDF files may have lost their innocence! Two security firms have
pinpointed a worm that infects Adobe Acrobat PDF files. The virus,
called Outlook.pdf, uses Acrobat software and Microsoft Outlook to
move around. Victims use Acrobat to open it -- it then asks victims
to click on the image of a peach. Then a Visual Basic script is run
and the virus comes alive.

A look at an off-the-wall story off the Web

"Gadget with more byte than bark"

Dog owners...listen up. Ever been frustrated because you just don't
know what's gotten your moody mutt so miffed? You can soon get the
answer straight from the horse's -- make that the DOG'S -- mouth.
Inventors in Japan claim to have developed a high-tech canine
translator. The gadget, called the Bow-lingual, can supposedly
interpret a dog's barks and growls into human emotions. The
Bow-lingual consists of a small microphone, attached to the dog's
collar, that "reads" dog-speak by matching sounds to a set of
pre-programmed wave patterns. There are plans to adapt the technology
so that anxious owners, who are away from home, can be kept up to
date with their dog's feelings delivered straight to their handset.
