LEAD STORY

MICROSOFT SHIPS WINDOWS .NET BETA 3 | News: CRN

"Tripp's" time has come! The third beta version of Windows.NET is
ready for the testing. This is the server sibling to XP and preps the
Windows server for the Web services market by mixing the .NET
framework with a veritable stew of protocols, including XML, SOAP,
WSDL and UDDI. The server's target ship date is the first half of
2002.

WEB SERVICES DIRECTORY PUT TO THE TEST | News: CNET

Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) may make a
little more sense thanks to an updated test version of a public Web
services directory. IBM, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and SAP launched
the directory today -- it's a virtual Yellow Pages that connects
businesses wanting to do business online.

BIZTALK SERVER POISED FOR BATTLE | News: InfoWorld

BizTalk is becoming the talk of the enterprise application
integration (EAI) market. MS says BizTalk server will put its
competition, namely webMethods, Vitria, and CrossWorlds out of
business. WebMethods says BizTalk can't walk the walk, being too
immature to hack it when it comes to solving integration problems.
Giga says BizTalk won't kill off other EAI vendors, but that it is
enterprise-worthy and will give them a run for the money.

THE MISSING LINK | Depressed dot-com offers free Prozac

Eli Lilly is down in the dumps over depressed Prozac sales. WebMD has
been blue about its red bottom line. So the two bummed businesses are
teaming up for a proactive Prozac promotion aimed to make them
healthier and you happier. The drug firm and the dot-com are offering
Americans a month's supply of free Prozac. Some critics think the
companies are exploiting unease in America, but Lilly claims this is
just another treatment option for those already diagnosed with
depression.
