LEAD STORY

NEW WORM TARGETS MICROSOFT SQL SERVERS | News: Newsbytes

Don't panic, but there seems to be an Internet worm with eyes for SQL
Server, specifically those servers without a password on the system
administrator account. The worm loads a pair of Trojan horses into
the system, giving its creator control of the server. Security
experts say whoever fashioned this worm did a poor job -- they're
saying the worm probably won't get far.

BMC INTRODUCES ORACLE STORAGE/RECOVERY SOFTWARE | News: InternetNews

BMC Software is on data patrol. The company's updated Patrol Recovery
for Oracle manages an entire network's database backup and recovery
functions from one place. It should be ideal for Oracle DBAs who want
to manage multiple databases, including ones managed from SQL Server
and Exchange. Look for it in January 2002.

BILL BOSWELL'S ADMIN CORNER | Domain Migration

Dear Readers,
This week I'd like to talk about domain migration. Have you begun
your migration from NT to Win2k or XP, or better yet, have you
finished it? What were your most significant challenges? Did you use
any third party tools to make the transition? What did you find most
difficult? What would you tell Microsoft to do differently?

Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts with the rest of us.
I'm looking forward to meeting you, learning about your experiences,
and finding out what's on your mind.

THE MISSING LINK | Naked market reports offer bottom line

Ever wondered if that anchorman or woman is wearing pants behind that
desk? A new financial news Web site, Marketwrapunwrapped.com, gives
your imagination a break, baring more than just the facts. Instead of
Louis Rukeyser, you get Cindy, Georgie, Kelly and Lisa. Instead of
Brooks Brothers or Armani, you get Victoria's Secret and Frederick's
of Hollywood. Yep, four scantily clad sheilas wrap up the day's
financial news on this Aussie Web site for sore eyes. By the time
they're done with the naked truth, the girls are truly naked. Think
of it as CNBC meets the Spice Channel with a dash of Hooter's thrown
in.
