COMINGS AND GOINGS II | by David Gabel

User Mark E. Rohrer sent in a critique of the security tip "Comings
and Goings" that we posted on November 13, 2001. That critique reads,
in part, "The tip deserved the [rating of] one that I gave it, and
would have received a negative rating if possible due to the damage
it may do to innocent people if the tip is taken at face value.

We appreciate feedback from readers and users. It keeps us and our
tip writers on our toes. But this one required some further
discussion, so we solicited a reply from tipster Adesh Rampat.

you must keep current with these programs as new vulnerabilities are
discovered. Vision v. 1.0 from Foundstone, Inc. may be the answer.
Strom-meter: **** = Very cool, very useful

SCRAP IIS? | by Edward Hurley

Examine your options closely before you denounce Microsoft's Internet
Information Server. Analysts think a migration in reaction to recent
exposed vulnerabilities could trade in one set of problems for
another.
