STATES TARGET MICROSOFT'S SOURCE CODE | News: ZDNet

What would make the nine holdout states feel better? A good look at
the code. Trustbusters with the nine states opposed to the antitrust
settlement have told the judge they want Microsoft to open the source
code to Internet Explorer. That's part of a proposal submitted last
week to U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly. They also want MS
to open up the code to Windows if Redmond doesn't play by the other
rules of the proposal.

MICROSOFT SHOWS PASSPORT USERS THE MONEY | News: ZDNet

Microsoft is willing to buy some business for Passport. The company
will reward folks who buy at least $100 worth of stuff with Passport
Express Purchase. Redmond will write a check for $20 for every $100
spent using the online service. The most money back you can get is
$100. The promotion ends December 20. Critcs, namely Sun, say MS is
besieging credit card companies and retailers with this promotion.

ASK THE EXPERT | Can I leave Outlook Web Access on my NT server?

Dear Ask the Expert,
I installed Exchanger Server 2000 and moved all our mailboxes and
public folders over from our Exchange Server 5.5. My Outlook Web
Access (installed on IIS Server NT 4.0- DMZ) used to work when I had
Exchange 5.5 but it doesn't see the new server. Can't I leave OWA
running on an NT Server and just have it point to the new Exchange
2000 Server?

THE MISSING LINK | IT staff "less popular than accountants"

A study done in Britain shows that IT folks are perceived as being
"people-unenabled," who either talk shop all the time or are so void
of verve and personality that they can't carry on a conversation. How
did the surveyors, NETg, arrive at this conclusion? They asked a
group of British men and women whom they'd like to sit next to at the
office Christmas party and why. IT support staff won the unpopularity
contest, beating out accounting for the dishonor. NETg says this is
sad proof IT folks need to sharpen those people skills. So, who's the
most popular partyer in the office? Personal assistants or
receptionists -- because they're perceived as having the goods on
everyone.
