ANOTHER SCRIPTING HOLE IN IE EXPOSES LOCAL FILES | News: Newsbytes

Georgi Guninski has outed another IE bug -- this one could let a
hacker read documents on the hard drive of a Web surfer's PC. The
vulnerability is in IE Version 6.0 and version 5.5 for Windows 2000,
each with the latest security patches installed.

ORACLE TO CUT 400 TO 800 CONSULTING, SALES JOBS | News: Reuters

Oracle has a case of the "pink slips" now -- the company is kicking
off the new year by kicking out about 2% of its employees. Some 400
to 800 jobs will be cut -- most of them in the North American sales
and consulting offices.

CENTURY-OLD BRITISH CENSUS GOES ONLINE | The Missing Link

It's not exactly the latest information, but it's cool anyway. The
British Public Records Office has put the 1901 census for England and
Wales online. Some pretty legendary folks are among the 32 million
countees -- Charlie Chaplin, Florence Nightingale and J.R.R Tolkien
to name three. It also lists 90,000 citizens described at the time as
"lunatics, imbeciles and feeble-minded people" -- not the kinds of
classifications you'd see these days! The site, at
www.census.pro.gov.uk, took two years to finish and should be a site
to behold for historians and genealogy buffs.
