LEAD STORY

"NEWSLETTER" WORM TARGETS OUTLOOK | News: Computerworld

A new virus is masquerading as an antivirus program attached to an
e-mail that appears to come from a German AV Web site. Yarner has a
potentially destructive payload as it erases all data on one out of
every 10 systems it infects.

RSA: MS SELLS SECURITY; USERS AREN'T BUYING IT | News: searchSecurity

Microsoft's chief security technical officer detailed his company's
Trustworthy Computing initiative at RSA Conference 2002 this week.
But some users felt Craig Mundie was giving them a sales pitch rather
than discussing serious security policy.

RSA: MICROSOFT FORTIFIES WEB SERVICES SECURITY | News: InfoWorld

Here's another way Microsoft is trying to patch its reputation for
slack security: The company has created a sample code for an XML
filter to shore up Web services environments. The software is
basically a plug-in for Internet Security and Acceleration Server
(ISA) 2000 and will guard Web services transactions from attacks and
kill suspicious message requests. It's a free download at

WILL RUNNING DISK DEFRAG ON EXCHANGE CAUSE HARM? | Ask the Expert

The Win2k Disk Defragmenter analysis of our Exchange Server indicates
extreme fragmentation. A run of the Analysis recommends
defragmenting. But I have seen articles that say to never defragment
drives housing Exchange. Is there harm in running the Win2k Disk
Defragmenter on our Exchange Server drives?

EXCHANGE PUBLIC FOLDER REPLICATION PERFORMANCE | Quick Hit of the Day

A user asked: My biggest issue with Exchange 5.5 is the way Exchange
public folder replication works. To move or add instances for public
folder replication can wreak havoc if you have multiple Exchange
sites over a slow link. Is there any way to improve performance?

INTERNET GAME PLAYS ON UNPREDICTABILITY OF BOB DYLAN | The Missing
Link

Tired of your office's annual March madness basketball pool? Asking
yourself, "What other pool can I jump into?" The answer, my friend,
is blowin' in the Web. A group of Bob Dylan fans bets on what songs
Dylan will play at his concerts. The odds of nailing his song
selection at a given gig are "tangled up in" slim. Dylan, after all,
has 40 years' worth of ditties under his guitar strap, and he mixes
up his song list constantly. Winners get a box set of bootlegged
Dylan shows.
