Those policies are part of the proposed settlement, and they're already in use. A witness for the PC maker told the court the policies give Redmond more control over PC makers. Gateway's question -- what kind of "remedy" is that? http://www.idg.net/ic_835692_1794_9-10000.html MICROSOFT ATTORNEY TAKES RED HAT TO TASK | News: CRN Microsoft's lawyer spent some court time trying to show that Red Hat Linux, as well as other competitors, don't spend anywhere near the amount of money Microsoft does on research and development. Michael Tiemann, Red Hat's CTO, said he doesn't think his company needs to spend the billions on R&D Microsoft does. Tiemann also said he has gotten many requests for Microsoft to port Office to Linux. Doing so, he said, would "jump-start some notion of competition in the desktop operating system market." http://www.crn.com/sections/BreakingNews/breakingnews.asp?ArticleID=34267 FRONTPAGE BUG OPENS MICROSOFT SITES TO ATTACKERS | News: Newsbytes Here's some FrontPage news. The 44-year-old street peddler got on the Thai version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," and her final answers were all right -- she won one million baht. But, the bundle of baht was not to be. Her fortune quickly turned to misfortune when the show's organizers realized she had the mother of all lifelines. Evidently, technicians got some wires crossed, and the computer monitor she was looking at not only had the questions, it had the answers too, highlighted in green. They had to do the show over again -- she won 25,000 baht in the replay.
