Would you be willing to boldly go...to bed? Fourteen men are hittin' the hay in France for three months -- lying down on the job in an experiment designed to imitate the effects of weightlessness on the human body during long-haul space travel. It's not the binge bedtime Brian Wilson put in back in the 1970s, but it will be a little tougher. The volunteers will rest in a tilt position with their feet slightly raised -- and everything from eating to bathing to relieving will be done in that position. Such endurance inertia is quite a physical challenge, but it pays pretty well, too. Each bedfellow will get about 10 grand for his sedentary stint.
