Some people may think Microsoft is bent on world domination. That may be a bit extreme, but the company may be bent on WorldCom domination. Bloor Research predicts Gates and company will dip into their huge stash o'cash and buy the troubled telecom. Why? Because WorldCom has "the world's best Internet backbone" and would give .NET a huge boost.

Policy for supporting multiple desktop OSes
Dear Expert,
Gartner has stated that companies would be wise to institute a policy of supporting multiple desktop operating systems. This would allow OS upgrades to be a normal part of the tech refresh cycle, rather than a major traumatic event. With 4000 desktops on Win95 and a new OS every 18 months, I tend to agree. What are your thoughts on this?

Maybe this finally explains why Nicole and Tom took the bullet train to Splitsville. A survey of Internet users in Australia found that the line between virtual flings and real things is quite thin. Most of the "sheilas" in the survey said they didn't see much difference between cyber sex and the real extramarital McCoy -- regardless of whether their "bruces" had ever met their logged-on lovers in the flesh. In fact, they said online activity is more out of line than going to a strip club or watching X-rated movies.
