But I fear that poor design and management of policies could lead to an administrative burden that outweighs the benefits of the 'keep it simple' approach. Regarding control of desktop features and user permissions using Group Policy Objects, do you have a set of top three (or more) dos and don'ts for design implementation and management of Group Policy? >>CLICK to read Jerry Honeycutt's expert response... http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid467174_tax285114,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= PERFORMING TEST RESTORES | by Liam Scanlan Dear Expert, Is it standard recommendation that one should, on a regular basis, do test restores to ensure backups are performing properly? Is it possible, that because the backup is not good, the test restore could actually ruin perfectly good data? If so, could you recommend some things to do to safeguard the files and data, so a bad backup does not overwrite them? >>CLICK to read Liam Scanlan's expert response... http://searchwindowsmanageability.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid33_cid446283_tax288041,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= ACTIVE DIRECTORY BACKUP AND RECOVERY | by Paul Hinsberg Dear Expert, What's the correct recovery procedure for a multi-domain, multi-DC forest where *every* domain controller has been trashed (e.g. disaster created by deliberate and malicious internal action)? Assume backup tapes held off site exist, of course. >>CLICK to read Paul Hinsberg's expert response... http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid455560_tax285115,00.html =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= EXCHANGE RELAYING AND AUTHENTICATION | by Scott Schnoll Dear Expert, We recently closed the open relay on our Exchange Server. After doing so, we were no longer able to receive e-mail for our sister company. Here's what we did. From Exchange System Manager we drilled down to: Administrative Group> FAG> Routing Groups> FRG> Connectors> Internet; then right click> Properties> Address Space Tab> Uncheck "Allow messages to be relayed to these domains." This closed our open relay, but also caused our e-mail to bounce for any mail going to our sister.com. All mail going to brother.com was flowing as required. Any ideas? >>CLICK to read Scott Schnoll's expert response... http://searchwin2000.techtarget.com/ateQuestionNResponse/0,289625,sid1_cid468023_tax285117,00.html _____________________________________________________________________ IMPORTANT FEATURES AND LINKS: =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= INTERNET E-MAIL WITH OUTLOOK WEB ACCESS (OWA) | Online Event Who: Scott Schnoll, author and MCSE When: June 13 at 01:00 PM EDT (17:00 GMT) Next Thursday, join author and SearchWin2000 resident Exchange expert Scott Schnoll for this Live Expert Webcast.
