U.K. government renegotiates Microsoft fees (IDG News)
The U.K. government has already worked out a license agreement with Microsoft that could save taxpayers $147 million over the next three years. Now the government is looking to save even more by allowing agencies to buy office products from other vendors, like Sun and Lotus, if those products are a good fit.

Microsoft will add board member from outside U.S., CEO says (Bloomberg News)
Coming to Microsoft -- diversity! The company plans to add a ninth seat to its board and fill it with a person who's not from the U.S to bring a different perspective to Microsoft. This decision comes as the company calls on its employees to focus on honesty, ethics and customer service. The way to upgrade the company's soul is through a more diverse workforce, according to Steve Ballmer.
