NEWS
Microsoft, states sum up cases for judge (IDG News)
The dissenting states have put their recipe for a remedy on paper and handed it in to the judge. Microsoft has handed in its punishment ideas too. Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly now gets to process all this information and should have her decision ready in a few months. Closing arguments from Microsoft and the states are scheduled to begin on June 19.

NEWS
Microsoft defends .NET Passport (The Associated Press)
Microsoft is coming to the defense of Passport, saying it doesn't violate any privacy laws in Europe. Some privacy watchdogs charged that Microsoft is basically using the technology to "get the goods" on users. A Microsoft official compared Passport to a doorman who checks IDs and then lets the person enter the building without doing anything more.

THE MISSING LINK
Thieving chimp is no chump

Jane Goodall, we have a problem. Scotland Yard's finest detectives are on the lookout for a chimp that's hardly a simp. The London swinger is way beyond the "fitting square pegs into square holes" stage; he knows where you keep your cell phone. The purloining primate climbed through the ground-floor window of a London man's flat, snatched a $150 cell phone from his bedside table, then made a lope for it. No bananas were taken. Law officers think this same ape broke into another house earlier that morning and tried to take a DVD player. The peanut butter was left undisturbed in the pantry. Police think the hairy cat burglar is a pet programmed to steal.
