The Windows storage market is heating up. And it's easy to see why: Demand is up and cost is down. All of the latest industry surveys indicate that companies are doubling, tripling and even quadrupling their storage needs year over year. And it doesn't matter whether you are adding to your headcount. The fact is that the applications themselves include more data, more graphics, all of which consume more storage space. At the same time, storage like disk is cheap. It is literally pennies per megabyte. So it's no wonder that Microsoft is trying to become a major player in the storage market. Can they succeed? What impact will Microsoft's entrance into the storage arena have on established vendors like EMC, Veritas and Network Appliance? Will they be a partner or a competitor?
We'll ask these questions and more with two leading industry experts who cover this market: Jamie Gruener, an analyst with the Yankee Group; and Arun Taneja from Enterprise Storage Group. We'll also have Chris Golubski to answer your technical questions in the Ask-a-Techie segment.
