    Peru bids Microsoft stranglehold to break (vnunet)
    Here's one way to kick the Windows habit -- ban it! That's one plan on the table in Peru. A lawmaker there has proposed banning all Microsoft products from government departments and replacing them with open source software. He says his plan would not only save Peru money on software license fees, it would also inspire his country's software industry by freeing programmers from the chains of working with coding controlled by a few large companies.
