New worm preys on password promise (SearchSecurity)
Frethem.K, a mass-mailing worm affecting Windows systems, arrives masquerading as a password and has the potential to spread rapidly. However, security insiders say it's not particularly destructive.

Microsoft maps Exchange's future (IDG News)
"Titanium" should hit the market about one year from now, according to Microsoft execs. This version of Exchange server software will basically be a bone thrown to keep customers happy until the .NET-based version of the software, called "Kodiak," is ready. Titanium will not be a .NET family member. Titanium will do a better job guarding against viruses and spam and sport better integration with Outlook and mobile devices. Titanium will mark the death of Mobile Information Server (MIS) software.

Drifter with cell phone helps cops catch thieves

He's homeless, and he's wireless. A transient man helped smoke out a pair of cigarette thieves in Lincoln, Neb. Police say the man heard the sound of shattered glass and saw two men go inside a business. What did he do then? He called the police, of course -- on his cell phone! How often does that happen? Where does the carrier send the bill? Like the detective said, it just shows how much "the culture has changed."
