O'Reilly: Open-source .NET inches closer to fruition (IDG News)
How's that open source version of .NET coming along? Those companies helping develop the Mono Project are slated to give a progress report this week. They'll talk about tools they've developed for creating Web-based applications based on the .NET platform. Programmers would be able to use those apps on computers that run Linux and Unix.

SAP CEO to huddle with Microsoft's Ballmer on co-opetition (CRN)
Now that Microsoft is invading Europe, German software giant SAP is ready to draw some battle
lines. SAP's CEO and MS CEO Steve Ballmer plan to have a software summit in September to draw
those lines and some rules of engagement so the two firms know where to compete and where to work
together. Microsoft's acquisition of Navision has landed it on SAP's midmarket turf.
