Premier users get Windows 2000 fixes (CNET)
Here's some good news, especially for those of you lamenting Licensing 6.0. Windows 2000 SP3 is just about ready. In fact, premier customers have been able to get it since Tuesday -- the rest of the Windows world can get it Thursday. This version is stuffed with previous fixes, security updates created since "Trustworthy Computing" kicked in, as well as a middleware control that reflects the antitrust settlement.

Microsoft, others to unveil W2k deployment blueprints (CRN)
Dell, Unisys, Brocade, EMC and several other firms plan to join Microsoft in an effort to create datacenter products that are based on the Windows 2000 Server platform. The companies want to make datacenter stuff that will trim deployment time and costs and will reportedly unfurl server and storage blueprints detailing their plans.

103-year-old man needs mom for eye test

Here's another story for the "Oops File." A hospital computer in England assumed a birth year ending in 99 was 1999. A staffer contacted Joseph Dickinson, presumably born three years ago, for an eye check and told him to bring his mum. Can you see where this is going? Little Joey the toddler is really Mr. Dickinson the centenarian. He was born in 1899 -- Mum can't make it! Evidently the Y2K bug still has some teeth, although the same might not be able to be said for Mr. Dickinson.
