Wyse hopes to get fat on thin clients (CRN)
These seem to be fat times for thin clients. Wyse Technology is going for a piece of the action -- it's showing off its new Winterm 3125SE, a thin client product based on an embedded version of the Windows CE.NET operating system. Wyse also has a product based on XP Embedded. Both products should be shipping within a month.

NEWS
Microsoft warns of flaw in File Transfer Manager software (CNET)
Microsoft warned customers using the File Transfer Manager to download product testing and volume licensing of a flaw in the FTM software that could allow an outsider to gain higher privileges. Microsoft also urged customers to upgrade to version 4.0.0.72. Microsoft distributes FTM to beta testers, companies participating in volume licensing programs and Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) subscribers, among others.

QUICK HIT
Filter to prevent administrator lockouts
"Help! I've locked myself out! What can I do?" That's one of the most frequently asked questions in the SearchWindowsManageability's Ask the Expert mailbox. The steps in this guide will work with Windows 2000/XP to help "filter" the administrator (or anyone else you choose) from being affected by the local group policy.

THE MISSING LINK
The Russians are flinging!

Vodka, Anna Kournikova, caviar, chess champs, Anna Kournikova -- all are famous Russian exports. Add this one to the list: flying keyboards. Moscow hosted the first computer keyboard throwing tournament this week where the "athletes" took their keyboards by the cords and hurled them as far as they could. A shot put event for stressed-out computer users! More than 100 people took part in the event, and a bunch of others put their best foot forward in the mouse kicking contest (computer mice of course). Instead of point and click -- it was point and kick! First prize? A new keyboard and mouse!
