LEAD STORY
Expert: MS flaw allows bogus digital signatures  (Network World)
An old vulnerability could cause a new problem. An independent researcher claims a flaw he found last month in Microsoft's cryptography software could also be exploited to forge digital signatures on e-mail sent to Outlook users. Translation: You could be hoodwinked into thinking you're having a secure conversation with someone else. MS is reportedly working on patches.

ASK ROBERTA BRAGG
Can I hide taskbar icons?
Dear Roberta,
I'm trying to hide all the icons on the right side of the taskbar, but I have no idea how to go about it. I was wondering if I could get any assistance. One reason I want to do this is because I use pcAnywhere on my network and don't want anybody using any of the workstations to disable or terminate the pcAnywhere app running on any one of these PCs.

THE MISSING LINK
The Net changes the face of termination

Want a pink slip? Want it fast? Check out some Web smut from the comfort of your cubicle. Or recommend some of your favorite skin sites to your coworkers (via e-mail, of course). Or if you're not into that kind of thing, spend lots of time elf bowling or shopping online. Do just one of those things and you could be on the bullet train to Bootsville. A new study from the U.K. shows that Internet and e-mail abuses will get you in hotter water than pilfering office supplies, lying to the boss or talking smack about the company. In fact, researchers found more workers got in trouble for Net naughtiness than for acts of dishonesty, violence or safety violations.
