LEAD STORY
Who's hacking Win2k servers?  (CNET)
Microsoft researchers are scratching their heads over a recent outbreak of attacks on Windows 2000 servers. Microsoft Product Support Services (PSS) has warned system administrators to watch out for Trojan horses and certain irregularities in their networks. MS thinks the attacks are the works of hackers rather than worms.

NEWS
Overprivilege problem prompts patches (eWeek)
Microsoft's patch police are working on several fixes for interactive Windows desktop services that run with problematically high privileges. Those privileges could leave systems open to attacks that could hand the keys of machines to attackers. Microsoft was alerted to the issue when a British security expert published a white paper last month that called the problem an "unfixable" flaw in the Microsoft Win32 API.

WIN2000 TALK RADIO
MS Certification: What's it worth?
You hear a lot about it -- but what's it really worth to network administrators, IT departments and the corporation's bottom line? In these days of tight budgets, it's increasingly difficult to get budget approval for even absolute and critical necessities. So how does a network administrator, IT manager or chief technology officer cost-justify the time and expense involved in training and retraining staff on current and future technology? That's the topic tackled in this edition of Win2000Talk Radio.

THE MISSING LINK
Martha Stewart buff cooks up fan site

If you're one of those people who would love to see a "Martha Stewart Prison" collection of bunk linens, jail cell accessories and other fashions that help "complete a sentence," then you won't like this site. SaveMartha.com has gone online to try and rescue the harried homemaker's ripped reputation, which has taken a bigger beating than egg whites being prepared for a meringue that goes atop a summery lemon chiffon pie. The site lets fans encourage Martha, read pro-Martha stories (like homemade, never-canned chicken soup for the Martha-loving soul) and shop in the Save Martha store. The guy who started the site said he's been a fan of Stewart for years, that she's being picked on because she's a successful woman and that it's time to leave her alone.
