LEAD STORY
Sun ready to waddle out desktop Linux  (CRN)
Sun's desktop Linux will waddle out this week at the Sun Network show, which will also showcase new security-related products, services and alliances. The new Linux distribution should hit the market early in 2003 and will complement StarOffice. Sun's hoping its penguin will peck away at Microsoft's huge share of the market.

Gartner: Don't mush into Yukon (vnunet)
Evidently you don't have to be Jack London to know there are perils in the Yukon. Gartner security expert John Pescatore said that if you're looking forward to Yukon, which is the next SQL Server, you should hold out until the first service pack comes out. He expects Yukon to be loaded with flaws and points to the fact that Microsoft has issued seven vulnerability alerts for SQL Server since April 2002.

Why is MSTASK.EXE using up 90% of CPU power?
Dear Michael,
My PC is running Windows 2000 Professional. It often runs very slowly. When I open the task manager, I find the MSTASK.EXE using up 90% of the PC CPU power. Hence, other applications like Outlook and Internet are running very, very slowly. Any idea what I can do about this?
