Microsoft earlier this year set dates for the final withdrawal of support for its popular NT 4.0 operating system platform. Now the company seems poised to do the same for its Exchange 5.5 messaging server.

SuSE, Microsoft to "Exchange" blows (eWEEK)
It looks like the penguin and Exchange will exchange blows. SuSE Linux claims its Openexchange Server will be ready to go next month. The product will combine SuSE's Linux Enterprise Server OS, an e-mail server and groupware into one tidy package. SuSE says the TCO of its baby is around 60% lower than a MS Exchange-based system.

New alliance moves apps off Unix, onto Windows (ServerWatch)
Unix is getting goosed and Windows is getting a boost from a new alliance. Unisys and MigraTEC are working together to move government agencies' applications off Unix environments and onto Unisys' Intel-based servers running Windows.
