Firm finds eight critical IE security holes (CNET)
Israel-based GreyMagic Software warned of nine security vulnerabilities in IE that could allow an attacker access to files on a vulnerable system. Eight of the nine flaws are critical and can be exploited by using a specially coded Web page that would run malicious programs on a victim's computer if the victim visited the page. The flaws could also allow attackers to copy clipboard information, execute programs and trick users by forging trusted Web sites.

DDoS attack against Net's 13 root DNS servers fails (Reuters)
A distributed denial-of-service attack targeted the 13 root servers that make up the Internet's Domain Name System on Monday, but failed to cripple the Internet. The attack went on for an hour and caused some congestion, but was not noticeable to average users. The Domain Name System matches IP addresses to the Web addresses users type. The DNS and its servers have long been a feared DDoS attack target.

Two Ethernet cards on one PC
Dear Serdar:
Can I have two Ethernet cards on one PC and have access to two different networks, without the two seeing each other? Does that also put the two networks in any security dangers with hackers going in one server and running into the other?

Too much Net can be a deadly thing
;)
For some people, the Net seems to be an addictive drug, and like addictive drugs, it can wreak havoc on the body. In the last few days, two gamers died after marathon play sessions. The most recent victim, a 27-year-old man in Taiwan, played for 32 hours straight before he "overdosed." The cause of death was listed as exhaustion. A South Korean man died several days earlier. His Net binge lasted 86 hours. A psychologist said that playing games for hours on end with no rest, combined with the sensory overload, can be too much for the body and the mind to handle. So evidently that "in moderation" argument applies to the Net, too.
