The latest SMS is now out. The good news? SMS 2003 covers more bases than its predecessors. The bad news? Get out the elbow grease. In order to take advantage of all the good stuff, you have to be willing to work. Analysts and users said this product isn't exactly a breeze to use, and it may not be a good match for smaller companies.

Stratus has $100k faith in Win2k (IDG News)
Stratus has a lot of faith in Windows. The fault-tolerant server maker will give $100,000 to any customer who suffers unexpected downtime when running Windows 2000 Advanced Server on its ftServer 6500 product. There's plenty of fine print with this deal.

It's sister-kissing time in Bahrain. In the latest match between man and machine, chess champ Vladimir Kramnik nearly made a chess chump of "Deep Fritz." The two tied in the eighth and final match of the "Brains in Bahrain" showdown. That means the entire series ends in a draw. Poor Kramnik. He could have taken home $1 million if he had deep-fried Deep Fritz. Instead he'll check out with $700,000. Rich Kramnik. ChessBase, the makers of Fritz, didn't exactly get rooked either; the company will donate about $200,000 to charity.
