Stratus has $100k faith in Win2k (IDG News)
Stratus has a lot of faith in Windows. The fault-tolerant server maker will give $100,000 to any customer who suffers unexpected downtime when running Windows 2000 Advanced Server on its ftServer 6500 product. There's plenty of fine print with this deal.

Russian champ takes $700,000 of chess pie
It's sister-kissing time in Bahrain. In the latest match between man and machine, chess champ Vladimir Kramnik nearly made a chess chump of "Deep Fritz." The two tied in the eighth and final match of the "Brains in Bahrain" showdown. That means the entire series ends in a draw. Poor Kramnik. He could have taken home $1 million if he had deep-fried Deep Fritz. Instead he'll check out with $700,000. Rich Kramnik. ChessBase, the makers of Fritz, didn't exactly get rooked either; the company will donate about $200,000 to charity.
