Microsoft warned users of SQL Server 7.0 and 2000 of a critical flaw that allows users to elevate their privileges and change tasks created by other users. An attacker, if authenticated to the server, could alter Web tasks created by other users or run pre-created tasks as if they were the creator. An attacker would not be able to create new tasks, the Microsoft alert said.

IE WebBrowser control flaw opens cookie jar (eWEEK)
Another week, another Internet Explorer hole. This one gives attackers access to the cookie jar. Researchers have found a new flaw in IE 5.5 and 6.0's WebBrowser control that allows an outsider to steal cookies, forge Web content and run code on a vulnerable computer. Users who have installed IE Service Pack 1 or are running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed are not vulnerable. However, there is currently no patch available, and exploit code for the problem has been posted to at least one security mailing list.

Even Steven may be getting a pink slip
;)
Oh Dell dude, where art thou? Have you noticed that the last few Dell commercials have been decidedly dude-free? So where is Steven, the dimpled ditz who's been pitching PCs all over TV for the last couple of years? A Dell official said the company is looking at other ad campaigns and that the current ads starring a group of unctuous interns are getting good feedback. He refused to say if dude is getting a Dell pink slip. Poor Steven, he was really going places. "Saturday Night Live" had just started to make fun of him for Pete's sake!
