Judge compares Microsoft to Harding's thugs (Reuters)
Microsoft is skating on thin ice with U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz. He compared the way MS has treated Sun and Java to the way Tonya Harding and her thugs treated Nancy Kerrigan. Motz is hearing Sun's suit to force Microsoft to include Sun's Java in Windows XP. He said he would make his decision within ten days on whether to grant Sun a preliminary injunction to keep Microsoft from distributing its own Java technology.

Dear Laura:
I used RBFG.EXE to create a boot disk (to install Windows 2000 via Remote Installation Service -- RIS). This solution is good with the recent card. RBFG.EXE proposes about 10 network cards. What must I do to add other drivers? And which drivers -- Windows 2000 or DOS?

E-cheating scandal strikes campus in Japan
![]()
Cheating sure has come a long way since the guys from "Animal House" excavated the test answers from a pile of trash. Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo has flunked 26 students after they were busted cheating on their final exams for an e-commerce class. Evidently one of the students left the exam early and then e-mailed answers -- not all of them correct -- back to his classmates via his cell phone. Professors started seeing red flags when more than two dozen students had the same answers, both right and wrong. After failing a makeup exam without having e-mail access, the students admitted that they also failed the honor system.
