NEWS
META: MS will have Linux software in 2004 (Reuters)
In what could be a "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" scenario, Microsoft will roll out Linux software in 2004. That's the prediction from META Group, which thinks the pervasiveness of Linux will be impossible for even MS to ignore. Analysts think that the move will eventually include SQL Server, IIS and Exchange. META also thinks that Microsoft will tweak pricing on its Windows server OS to better compete against open-source.

Microsoft is offering a little guidance when it comes to installing Windows more efficiently and economically. The company has released five guides that tech managers can use for jobs like patch management, installing new desktop applications and other scenarios. The guides, collectively called Microsoft Solutions for Management, come in free, short versions and customized versions from Avanade or through Microsoft Consulting.

NT to Win2k upgrade woes
"Hsr1911" writes:
I am going to upgrade my NT servers to Windows 2000 and I need some advice. The NT servers are my BDC and PDC. I can only do one server at time. The plan is to upgrade the BDC to Win2k and then demote the PDC to BDC. Is the proper thing to do?
