Otherwise, you risk growing pains in the neck, especially when it comes to Active Directory. One CIO has a three-step plan that works for him, and he thinks it could work for you, too.

QUICK HIT OF THE DAY
Getting your Exchange cluster up and running
You can cluster Exchange 2000 to get the benefits of clustering: increased reliability and performance. But there are lots of things you need to think about before you start throwing hardware together. This article discusses these considerations.
ASK SCOTT BLAKE
Can I edit file and third-party software changes?
Dear Scott:
I would like to do a file auditing on an NT4 server -- i.e, I would like to track who accesses, changes, reads and writes to a file. I have been enabling NTFS auditing. However, with a "successful" audit on "file and object access," it generates lots and lots of log entries in Event Viewer and it only reports that the "system" changes things, not the actual user. Is there any other way to audit a file?

Jeeves shows banner ads the door
![]()
Ask Jeeves, the servile search engine where the butler does it, does not do banner ads. The site has gone "banner-free in 2003," claiming that the banner ban will make life better for its users. Butlers do hate clutter after all! Instead, you'll see what's called "Branded Response and Premier Listings," where an unobtrusive selection of commercial sites that are pertinent to your search neatly appear. Jeeves doesn't do pop-ups either -- the butler did in those late last year.
