NEWS
Spam filters a hit with hackers, not enterprise IT (SearchCIO.com)
Enterprise IT is enlisting an unlikely ally in its fight against e-mail spam: computer hackers. The notorious John Draper, aka "Cap'n Crunch," was among those who joined researchers and IT professionals at a conference at MIT to debate the merits of anti-spam techniques such as blacklists and Bayesian filters.

NEWS
Microsoft takes a stand on enemy turf (Computerwire)
Like Pepsi doing a taste test at a Coke convention, Microsoft is setting up a stand at the LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in New York. About 15 of Redmond's troops will be there to preach the Windows gospel to Unix users who may be riding the fence and persuade them to run Windows on Intel rather than Linux on Intel. MS will also flex its Services for Unix at the expo.

Security issues of Win2k remote admin function?
Dear Roberta:
What are the potential issues with the remote admin function of Windows 2000, both server and workstation? What do we need to do in the way of configuration to not enable this feature? Or what security issues do we need to be aware of if we determine that we would like to use this feature for remote admin?

THE MISSING LINK
Red flags wrinkle resume of Monster.com chief

What monster irony this is! The head of Monster.com, a man whose job depends on the accurate resumes of others, apparently fudged his own resume. Jeff Taylor took credit for having a special kind of Harvard MBA, but there are two problems with that: Taylor doesn't have a graduate degree in anything, and Harvard doesn't even offer the kind of MBA that Taylor said he received. A double fudge! Taylor said he didn't mean to get creative with his credentials and that the whole thing is a misunderstanding.
