Active Directory migration horror stories
If you love SearchWindowsManageability.com bloopers, you're sure to adore this collection of AD mishaps. The moral: AD should be treated with expertise and humility.

ASK PAUL HINSBERG
Win98 users can't log on after AD installed
Dear Paul:
I recently migrated two NT4 servers to Windows 2000 Advanced Servers. One server was a primary domain controller (PDC), Server 1, and the other was a backup domain controller (BDC), Server 2. The migration of the servers occurred simultaneously. However, after I installed Active Directory on Server 2 (I made it an additional domain controller in a new forest in a single domain), my Windows 98 clients are now unable to log in.

Glitch turns ATM into a slot machine

ATMs aren't supposed to be generous. But some cash dispensers in England proved to be quite the philanthropists. Thanks to a software glitch, a financial institution's ATMs gave away more than $1.3 million. Evidently, people would put in their bank cards and make their withdrawals, but the software didn't record the debits. Translation -- free money! Never has being an ATM user been so lucrative. It took the bank five days to catch on that it was using a prodigal product.
