THE MISSING LINK
New technology keeps up disappearances

If you feel virtually invisible at work now, or if there are times when you'd like to vanish into thin office air, just wait. Tangible invisibility (oxymoron alert!) is on its way. A professor at the University of Tokyo claims that he is creating the technology to make you go away. It's not as easy as Harry Potter putting on a cloak. In order to vanish, you have to wear a coat made of retroreflective material, and the person to whom you want to appear to have disappeared must look at you through a pinhole. Professor Invisible hopes his disappearing act will be a commercially viable product in a few years -- just enough time for magician David Copperfield to find a new line of work.
