LET THE EXCHANGE SERVER DO IT | by Serdar Yegulalp

It's good to urge your users to set an out-of-office message when
they won't be able to retrieve mail for extended periods of time. It
tells colleagues and clients that the user is away, may stop more
traffic (did you get my message?) and generally makes correspondents
feel better about the company. But users, being users, will sometimes
forget. When that happens, there *is* something you can do.

WHEN MULTIPLE USERS MONITOR ONE E-MAIL ADDRESS | by Kevan Danker

At times you may want one e-mail address to be monitored by multiple
people. Examples might include addresses like: [EMAIL PROTECTED],
[EMAIL PROTECTED], etc. As you'll see in this tip, one of the

CAN I RECOVER MAIL DELETED BEFORE A BACKUP? | Ask Scott Schnoll

Dear Scott:
I do a daily normal backup of my Exchange 2000 server at 10 p.m. A
user has deleted a couple of his mails at 5 p.m. and wants them back
at 7 p.m. So I backed up the mailbox store and restored, but I did
not get the mails my user had lost. Could you please explain to me
where I made a mistake and how to get my user's mails back? Thank you
very much.

DAMAGED GOODS | Know-IT-All Quiz #24

Test your knowledge with this week's quiz, then visit the list of
related information you'll find on the answer page.

There are pitfalls to using group policy objects that may not be
obvious. One of the errors that can be logged on workstations that
have GPOs applied to them unsuccessfully is Event ID 1000. This error
is notoriously vague, but the most common reason is:

a. The history key in the registry has been deleted
b. A registry entry has incorrect permissions applied to it
c. Missing or damaged registry entries
d. Both b and c
e. The FCC has removed an offensive registry entry
