PLAN WHEN YOU MIGRATE TO AD | by James Michael Stewart

Before you start implementing a migration from a Windows NT domain to
an Active Directory domain (whether based on Windows 2000 Server or
Windows Server 2003), you should always fully document your intended
domains, forests, organizational units, sites, DNS infrastructure and
security strategies. This documentation becomes the plan for your new
infrastructure when you make the migration.

DNS/DHCP ISSUES WHEN MOVING TO WINDOWS/NETWARE | Ask Paul Hinsberg

Dear Paul:
We have a mixed environment of NetWare 6 and Windows 2000 using
eDirectory 8.6.2 and a single flat NT domain. We use Novell's DNS and
DHCP services on one of our NetWare servers. We need to upgrade our
domain to AD and I am concerned about the operability of Active
Directory with our DNS and DHCP. We are planning to upgrade our
domain controllers as the route to AD. Are there any "gotchas" we
should be watching for?

DO MOST NAS DEVICES WORK WITH ACTIVE DIRECTORY? | Ask Laura Hunter

Dear Laura:
I want to use an NAS device within my Windows 2000 network. Are there
any technical issues or problems that arise when using NAS with
Win2k? Do most NAS devices work with Active Directory?

AD ADMIN TOOLS ON WINDOWS XP FAILING | Discussion Thread

"BudDawson" wrote:
I have followed the procedure to download and install the RC2 version
of the AD tools (adminpak.msi) for Windows 2000 server onto my laptop
running Windows XP with SP1. It all goes well, until I try to
actually run any of the AD tools. Then I get a pop-up window saying
"Microsoft Management Console has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I click "Send Error
Report" but I cannot manage my Windows 2000 Active Directory from my
laptop, even though I selected "run as..." and specified a Domain
Admin account on the Win2k AD.
