of cake

With NEW Administrator's Pak 4.0, you can quickly solve problems that
once baffled you for days. Here's one of dozens of examples: A
complex and mysterious registry problem plagues your mail servers.
With Administrator's Pak 4.0, you edit the registry -- even on
unbootable systems -- to compare, cut, and paste registry components.
Instead of days of sleuthing, you're looking at minutes of repair.
With NEW Administrator's Pak 4.0, time is finally on your side.

EDIT ALERT BEHAVIOR | by Serdar Yegulalp

Windows 2000 does not send out alert messages over the network in
real-time. Instead, it checks for available alerts after a certain
length of time, or sends alerts when a certain threshold of pending
alerts is reached. The length of time and the event threshold can
both be set by an administrator, but only by editing the registry.

REDUCE WIN2K USER ISSUES WITH SHADOW COPY | by Carol Miller

Don't believe that you have to install Windows Server 2003 as a
domain controller to utilize any of the new features. One of the
nicest, easiest to configure and administratively savvy features in
the newest Microsoft server is the new shadow copy feature. This
feature allows users to "roll back" to earlier versions of files and
folders -- say, in the instance when a user deletes a file by
accident.

TROUBLESHOOT SHUTDOWN ISSUES WITH TASK MANAGER | by Tim Fenner

You probably already know that you can use Task Manager to determine
which programs are currently running on a computer. If you have a PC
that is having shutdown issues though, you can try to isolate the
problem by manually quitting each program, one-by-one, and then
shutting down and restarting to test if the shutdown problem is
resolved, as explained in more detail in this tip.

PUT A COMMAND LINE SHORTCUT IN YOUR MOUSE MENU | by Ott Brendon

If you prefer to use the command line for some tasks, you can create
a command line shortcut in your mouse's right-click menu that will
open the command line window in a specific folder that you select.
This tip explains step-by-step how to do it.

INTERNET ACCOUNT/SUB-CONTRACT FOR INTRANET? | Ask Tony Northrup

Dear Tony:
I have been made responsible for the set up of a new office
environment. The building has intranet wiring. We want the network
between 10 office PCs to share script writing/scheduling/budgeting
software. Security, high-volume print capabilities and fixed levels
of access are important. Do we establish an Internet account or
sub-contract for an intranet setup?
