Licensing changes -- too little too late?

DISCUSSION THREAD
Failed to open the group policy object
"Reginalim" writes:
Whenever I try to open the Domain Controller Security Policy or the Domain Security Policy, I'll get this error message saying, "Failed to open the Group Policy Object. You may not have appropriate rights." And under the details information, it shows "The system cannot find the path specified."

Is there any way to view the passwords policy settings for my users other then the above two tools? My users are getting "Your password will expire in 14 days." I need to see and change some of the policies that are set by the engineer who has left. Is there any other way?

KNOW-IT-ALL QUIZ OF THE DAY #295
Share and share alike
Sometimes an admin or user will delete a folder that has an active file share on it and ignore the warning that Windows provides when this is done. Not only does this log an error, but under some conditions the share itself isn't removed, and will continue to throw an error whenever the system is restarted. The easiest way to keep this from happening is to:
a. Remove the share from the Shared Folders section of Comp Mgmt
b. Trace the missing share via your error logs and delete it
c. Remove the share from the registry
d. Both a. and c.
e. Share your active files with the other kids

THE MISSING LINK
GPS technology is a doggone good thing

Custom doggie tags are nice, microchips are cool, "lost and found" ads work, but when it comes to finding your foxhound or pinpointing your pug, a new product from Japan's Secom Co. Ltd. is far more fetching. The firm has developed a service that uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to locate wayward Weimaraners or any other lost pooch that's wearing a special sensor. Said sensor is a tiny GPS terminal that a dog can wear on its back or around its neck. If your dog disappears, you can get on Secom's Web site, type in a username and password and, voila, the service tells you where Fido is, within 164 feet.
